Bajaj Small Car

Author: Monty Alexander
It seems car manufacturers have realized that not-so-rich consumers in India also have a dream to drive a car of their own. To target that segment of auto market, auto companies are trying their bit to introduce economy or budget cars to suffice the mobile needs of a small families. First, it was Tata Motors which came with the idea of providing a car with price tag of just INR one Lakh. Now it is Bajaj Auto which is entering into the car market with its small car, Bajaj Lite. Bajaj Auto is the second largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India. With this car, Bajaj Auto will start its car journey.

Bajaj Auto is planning to introduce new car within 3-4 years. It will produce this car in partnership with French car giant Renault and Nissan. But it was much before the entry of these partners in the scene that Bajaj Auto started working on it's for wheeler project. The company has displayed its prototype in the auto expo, 2008. The four-wheeler platform which the Bajaj Auto is developing for the car will be used in other cargo carrier vehicles also. This car will be manufactured at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra.

By what is perceived from its prototype, this car is good in style and finish. The car has a unique look. Its large headlamps occupy the large part of the hood. Instead of a grille, the headlamps are connected by a line. Windscreen is quite steep which saw mostly in low-cost cars. Despite having price as low as 1.2lakh INR, this car has alloy wheels and stylish fog lamps. The car has badly mounted tail lamps but Bajaj has time to improve on this when it truly launches the car in the market.

This will be available in diesel and petrol variants both. Later on you have choice to build LPG, CNG and hybrid options. The car is equipped with twin-cylinder and will be promoted as the intre-city car. Baja Auto is planning to produce most fuel-efficient small car in the market and it is expected to deliver 30km per litre. Whopping! According to Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj "This is not an Rs 1 lakh car. It will be priced competitively but not sell on the pricing. Offering the customer twice the fuel economy is more effective than offering half the price."

The main point of promotion of this car is its affordability. But this car will be priced much more than the because it meets the safety and emission norms. It will be air conditioned car. The main objective of the company is to offer a modern small car in economical range.
