Cars for Sale - Bargain or Booby-trap

Author: Mel C
Everyone wants to get a bargain when they purchase another car, but how do you tell if your chosen car is a beauty or a booby-trap? Here are some tips to make sure the car you choose is a good one

What most people want when they look for another car to buy is a bargain. The idea is to get the most car for the least amount of dollars, rather than just the cheapest car available. Some cars for sale are ridiculously cheap - and are mostly worth a great deal less than advertised. So when you go looking at those cars for sale don't be blinded by the cheap price, but make sure that it is a reasonably late model and in good condition.

One thing to look out for when checking over the cars for sale in a used car lot is rust. Sometimes rust will have been painted over, so if you notice any paint that is less than smooth and shiny, you can be sure there is either rust, or maybe it is bog filling up a dent. Press gently on the area with your nail. If there is rust underneath the paint will flake off or push in. Don't worry that you may have damaged it; in that state the weather would have soon done it, anyway.

Another thing to watch for in buying a used car is whether it has been in an accident. Even a slight accident can do damage to the structural area of the car and make it unsafe. Clues that may alert you to this problem are mirrors that are twisted; front and back seating that look a slightly different shade of colour from each other, and areas around the doors or boot that are slightly out of alignment. By keeping these things in mind when you hunt through the cars for sale, your quest for a decent car may be more successful.
